Eat, Drink, and See a Show!
FAQ: About the Theater On Main
These are professional actors and tours like at the Fox, right?
We can understand how our high quality productions and dinner theater
atmosphere might lead people to think the actors are touring
professionals, but they're not! Our theater is a non-profit
community theater organization. The performers are local talent,
people who work in our community and volunteer their time to rehearse
and perform in our productions.
Can I be in a show? No. Okay, just kidding!
Our auditions are open to everyone, and are announced in the
local papers, on this website, and via email.
Can I direct a show? We accept
letters of interest from directors, musical directors and choreographers for consideration for all our shows.
If you review our Season 2007 and are interested in joining the production staff for any show,
let us know!
Non-profit? Can I make a tax-deductible donation?
You certainly can! You can either drop off your donation at the
Playhouse or mail it.
Make checks payable to "Theater On Main Cobb Playhouse".
We'll gladly give you a receipt on fancy stationery that will satisfy your accountant.
We really love our wonderful and generous donors!
Can I borrow your wonderful costumes for my own group's show?
Borrow? No. RENT? MAYBE. In our experience our productions have
often been recognized for presenting costumes rivaled only by professional companies.
Many of these costumes have been designed and built by the actors themselves. Great time and care
go into the stage design and costumes of our plays.
How early must I arrive?
We suggest that you arrive at least 30 minutes before the start of the performance.
There may be small line-ups to pick up tickets, for the washrooms , etc.
It is advisable to give yourself a little extra time to account for
any unforeseen circumstances. Latecomers may not be seated until there
is a suitable "break" in the performance, as determined by the House Manager.
How long is the show?
Different shows have different running times. The approximate running times
of our shows - including any intermissions - will be posted with the show's
pricing and scheduling information on this web site or simply call or ask the box office.
Are children allowed in the theater?
Generally, we do set age limits for all of our productions.
Parents are reminded that most live, professional theater -
unless specifically advertised as being for children or "for the whole family"
- is intended for adults and may not be enjoyed by, or be suitable for, children.
If you are in doubt about bringing a child to any particular production,
please ask before buying tickets. Please look for the recommended
age guidelines provided on website and on advertisments!
Please also be aware that if you do bring a young child
and that child creates any disturbance, you may be asked to leave
the theater. If you do decide to bring a child younger than the suggested age,
The Management will take no responsibility for the content of the show that may not be suitable for that age group.
What should I wear to the theater?
Most of the people you will see in the audience will probably be
dressed in a "casual" style. Please bring your shawl, you might find it a little chilly inside the theater.
Are there discounts for children, students or seniors?
We may have senior/adult/student/child pricing. If special pricing is not specifically advertised, it is not available.
What about group rates? How many do I need for a group discount?
Group discounts are available for most of our events.
The minimum size of a "group" discount is 5 persons.
Please check our Box Office/Tickets page for full details.
Can I take pictures of the show?
Normally, no. Cameras, video cameras and any other sound
or image-recording devices are usually prohibited. Check with us before you shoot.
Can I bring my own food and drinks?
No. There is no food or drink allowed in the theater!
Anyone disturbing other patrons with munching, crunching or the
rattling of potato chip bags may be asked to leave
Do I have to buy tickets in advance,
or can I buy them when i come to the theater?
There is no requirement that you purchase advance tickets. You may buy
your tickets at the box office as you enter the theater, but you will be
gambling that there are still seats available. Many performances sell out
well in advance and you may find that your seating choices are very limited,
if there are any remaining seats at all
Is your theater wheelchair-accessible?
Yes, there is wheelchair and assisted seating available in our theater.
I must have an aisle seat. How can I be sure my seat is on an aisle?
If you have any specific seating needs, please tell the box office before making your ticket purchase.
What if I can't make it to the show?
Can I get a refund or exchange my tickets for another date?
Sorry, but there are no refunds! However, there are exchanges: MEMBERS -
Free; NON-MEMBERS - $5.00 charge. Make sure you get the date right when you make your purchase.
What if I lose my tickets?
Tickets, once issued, can be re-issued under special circumstances!
Please keep your tickets in a safe place. If you do lose your
tickets, please call the Box Office as soon as you become aware of the loss or let them know at the
box office at least a half hour prior to performance time once you arrive at the theater.
I don't have a credit card. Where can I buy tickets for cash?
You can make cash payments at our theater box office.
