General Greyhound
Info...
Greyhounds shed very little, have no typical
'dog' smell, are very smart, and extremely trainable. They are
very quiet, friendly, gentle, and love to play (when they are not
sleeping on the couch).
Below are two of our 6 kids, in their natural
habitat (relaxing in a ballpark). As you can see, greyhounds
spend most of their time laying around...
Although greyhounds do
require regular exercise, it is probably not as much as you might
think. Greyhounds love to run, but live happily in a regular size
yard. A fence or leashed walks are a must. At 40+ miles an hour,
you could loose sight of your dog in seconds.
A good walk on a leash several times a day would keep most
greyhounds more than happy. Although many people meet regularly
to form playgroups. These groups meet at owner's houses or
dog-friendly public parks to let the dogs run in a fenced in
area.
Greyhounds live a long time, generally from 12-15 years. Since
they usually range from 1 to 3 years when adopted, you can expect
a long lifetime of love and companionship.
